Dr. Michael McLennon
ORAL & MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEON
Dr. Michael McLennon is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He was raised in the suburbs of Raleigh after moving from the northeast in his early childhood. He completed his undergraduate training at Duke University, where he earned his bachelor’s in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy with a double minor in Chemistry and Biology. During his time at Duke, he shadowed an oral surgeon in the Triangle area and assisted him during a volunteer trip in Fortaleza, Brazil. Following graduation from Duke, he remained in his home state and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – Adams School of Dentistry. Dr. McLennon was actively involved in community outreach programs throughout dental school; he volunteered with the North Carolina Mission of Mercy clinics throughout the state, as well as the UNC SNDA CAARE Clinic, where he proudly served as a coordinator. He is also the proud recipient of the Lupton Student Award for Clinical Achievement in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Upon completion of his DDS degree, Dr. McLennon accepted a six-year residency at UF Health in Gainesville, FL, where he also obtained his medical degree. During his surgical residency, he received extensive training in: corrective jaw surgery, temporomandibular joint surgery, reconstructive and facial trauma surgery, benign pathology and dentoalveolar surgery under the tutelage of world-renowned surgeon Dr. M. Franklin Dolwick. Dr. McLennon also had the privilege of training at the Center for Implant Dentistry in Gainesville, Florida where he received detailed dental implant training using state-of-the-art techniques and technology. Throughout his time at the University of Florida, he also received extensive training in the practice of anesthesiology and personally completed over 700 adult and pediatric anesthesia cases. He also completed a one-year General Surgery internship during his residency, and served as chief resident of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery during his final year.
Outside of oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. McLennon enjoys running, cycling, snowboarding, scuba diving, kayaking, and weight training. Dr. McLennon is married to Dr. Annie McLennon, his dental school classmate and sweetheart. They spend much of their free time in the great outdoors with their son, Teddy.
