Bone Grafting

If teeth are missing, the jawbone in the area of missing teeth will diminish or be reabsorbed over a period of time. This creates a condition in which there is not enough quality bone for the placement of dental implants. However, we have the ability to use several different methods to grow bone so that we can place implants of proper length and width and be able to restore functionality and aesthetic appearance.

Tissue Engineering

A technique called Plasma Rich in Growth Factors is used to grow and regenerate new bone and soft tissue by using a small about of plasma proteins from your own blood. This type of soft tissue engineering allows the body to take advantage of the normal healing pathways at a greatly accelerated rate.

Minor and Major Bone Grafting

Larger defects in the jaw or extensive resorption will require major bone grafting to repair, but can usually be performed in the office setting. A CT scan of the jaw will allow the doctor to assess the adequacy of the bone prior to implant placement.
